Montgomery County has an immediate opening for Jail Guard I within the Department of Corrections. Both full and part time positions available. Duties include: Monitoring prisoners, keeping daily logs, report writing, and enforcing rules and regulations. Applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED. Good communication and mathematical skills a must. Must have a Kansas driver’s license. Starting wage is $13.00 an hour.
Bridge Crew Laborer / Operator
Montgomery County Public Works Department is seeking applicants to fill a Laborer/Operator Trainee position on our Bridge crew. Carpentry and/or concrete experience preferred. Job duties include building forms for bridges and culverts, concrete pouring and finishing work with some time (less than 25%) operating equipment. The applicant must have a current driver’s license and be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months of employment. Training and equipment will be provided. Current CDL is preferred. Benefits include paid holidays, accumulated 8 hours vacation and 8 hours sick leave per month after probationary period, health/dental insurance, KPERS retirement and uniforms. Beginning wage is $13.77 per hour, with an increase of up to $14.82 per hour after 6 months. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Montgomery County Public Works is seeking applicants to fill an Equipment Operator position in our Road and Bridge Department. Primary duties include the operation of all types of light equipment used in the placement of rock, asphalt and dirt in the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges. The applicant must have a current driver’s license and be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months of employment. Training will be provided. Current CDL is preferred. Clerk I – Treasurer’s Office
The Montgomery County Treasurer’s Office has an immediate opening for a full time Clerk I. The basic function of a Clerk I is to wait on customers and process tax payments. Applicants must be able to balance daily work. Must be bondable, a condition of being bondable is a minimum credit score of 650. Must have the ability to operate typical office machines with a preferred knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to accept cash payments. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
Temporary Janitorial Help
Montgomery County Building Maintenance Department has an opening for a Temporary full-time Janitor position. Duties include cleaning bathrooms, offices, hallways and stairways as well as delivering materials to county offices and helping other Building Maintenance staff as needed. The wage is $11.47 per hour. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. A background check is required and fingerprints will be kept on file. Applications will be accepted until filled.
Support Services Officer for MCRF#1
Under the general direction of the District Chief, the
Support Services Officer is responsible for managing programs and projects related to routine safety vehicle maintenance, fire equipment, purchases, inspections and maintenance, and management of the tracking and documentation process in various locations for the Department. Job will not exceed 20 hours per week.
Montgomery County, Kansas has a position opening for a County Appraiser. Job responsibilities include administrative and supervisory work in the Appraiser’s Office as well as the annual valuation of all real and personal property within the County. Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, planning and decision-making skills are necessary, as well as fiscal management experience.
Skills: Requirements include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. CAE, RES, RMA or General Certification from the Kansas Real Estate Appraisal Board is required as well as three (3) years of appraisal experience including experience in the mass appraisal of real property. Applicants must be qualified by the Director of Property Valuation as an eligible County appraiser and meet all Kansas Statutory requirements. Drug testing is required. County residency will be required within six (6) months of employment. Salary based on experience.
