The Health Department contracts with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to assist potential child care providers become licensed and conduct inspections of child care facilities. State regulations help protect the health, safety and welfare of children placed in out of home care.

All potential child care providers are required to have an orientation before applying for a license. Call the Coffeyville office to schedule an appointment. The cost is $25.00 and you receive credit toward your initial licensing training hours.

After becoming a provider if you have any questions we are here to guide and advise in best practices utilizing the National Caring for Our Children standards.

The Health Dept. investigates complaints including complaints of illegal care. If you have concerns regarding a licensed day care home, child care center, or Pre-School or think someone may be operating a daycare without licensure please call the Coffeyville office at 620-251-4210. All complainant information is kept confidential but you can remain anonymous if you choose so.

The Child Care Surveyor is also an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR instructor. The cost of CPR classes is $25.00 and includes the book and materials you will use during class. These classes offer 6 hours of in-service for child care providers.
