SUPERVISOR: County Commissioners /Juvenile Corrections Advisory Board
Manage programs operated by 14th JD Community Corrections-Juvenile Services for the 14th Judicial District and assist the Juvenile Corrections Advisory Board (JCAB) in meeting the needs of the community through this agency. This includes working with the state and local government to ensure funding to maintain these programs, completing state and local reports. The Director must complete the forty (40) hours annually training required by DOC-JS with at least eight (8) hours of the forty (40) related to management, leadership and/or supervisory skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Apply for grants to fund programs operated by 14th JD Community Corrections-Juvenile Services in compliance with the Community Plan. The Director shall review the Community Plan annually with the JCAB. Manage programs and grant funding in accordance with Kansas Department of Corrections – Juvenile Services guidelines and procedures. This includes the Immediate Intervention Program that has been approved by the JCAB and DOC-JS. Prepare required DOC-JS reports and documents. Maintain staff positions and complete staff evaluations to ensure programs are operating as approved and in compliance with state standards. Review and report on all juvenile offender grievances that have been received on employees. Complete 30-day and 180-day supervisory reviews of Athena and case files for compliance with DOC-JS guidelines and state and federal audits. Review Juvenile Intensive supervision officer’s development and management of goal-oriented case plans for juvenile offenders in DOC-JS custody. Set in and evaluate YLS assessments every three months on all workers trained in the YLS. Make collateral contacts with other agencies and court as necessary. Maintain complete and accurate records of clients. Other responsibilities are complete payroll, code bills for payment and balance the budget monthly between the county and state.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position supervises:
JISP – 1 employee; Case Manager/Program Specialist- 1 Full-Time Worker; Juvenile Intake & Assessment – 2 full-time, 2 part-time; Deputy Director – 1; IIP Supervisor – 1
Must be 21 years of age or older and must maintain a valid driver’s license and home phone. This position requires a Bachelor Degree in Human Services or related field and; minimum of five (2) years experience with at least three (3) years of management experience (Exception for section E maybe requested to the Deputy Secretary). Director must have good communication and writing skills. Director must submit to criminal records check, child abuse check, and adult abuse registry check, physical and an alcohol/drug screen and fingerprinted.
Pay: $67,662.40 – $74,609.60 per year
