The Board of County Commissioners, three members and the County Clerk present, met in regular session at 9:00 AM.

CALL TO ORDER:  Commissioner Lewark-Wood.

INVOCATION:  Commissioner Tucker.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:  Commissioner Lewark-Wood.

AGENDA APPROVAL:

 

ACTION A motion was made by Commissioner Fowler to approve the agenda as amended.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Lewark-Wood.

     ROLL CALL VOTE – Commissioner Lewark-Wood - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Tucker - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Fowler – Yes

APPROVAL OF PAYMENT OF INVOICES:

 

ACTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Fowler to approve invoices in the amount of ­$5,000.00  as presented by the County Clerk’s office.   The motion was seconded by Commissioner Lewark-Wood.

    ROLL CALL VOTE – Commissioner Lewark-Wood - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Tucker - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Fowler – Yes

ROAD – RON McPHERSON:

 

Ron McPherson, Montgomery County Resident, met with the Board and discussed the article in the County Chronicle paper.  He feels the gas businesses in the county is a great benefit and residents should be aware of the tax dollars being brought into the county.  The Board thanked Mr. McPherson for coming to the meeting and expressing his views.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY HEALTH – PANDEMIC INFLUENZA CONTRACT:

 

Ruth Bardwell, Montgomery County Health Administrator, presented the Pandemic Influenza Contract between the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and Montgomery County.  Term of the contract is from September 1, 2007 though August 8, 2008.  The following action was taken:

 

ACTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Tucker to authorize the Chairman to sign, on behalf of Montgomery County, the Pandemic Influenza Contract between Montgomery County and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. 

Motion was seconded by Commissioner Fowler.

JUDGE CANADAY – REQUEST FOR COMPUTERS AND LAPTOP:

 

Judge Canaday presented a request to purchase 14 computers and one (1) laptop for District Court.  The total amount is $11,344.94 to be debited from Capital Outlay fund.  The following action was taken:

 

ACTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Lewark-Wood to approve the purchase of 14 computers and one (1) laptop from Dell in the amount of $11,344.94 for the Unified Court and to be debited from County General Capital Outlay Fund.

 Motion was seconded by Commissioner Fowler.

    ROLL CALL VOTE – Commissioner Lewark-Wood - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Tucker - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Fowler – Yes

COMPUTER DEPARTMENT -KEN COLLINS – EXECUTIVE SESSION:

 

ACTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Tucker to recess to Executive Session at 9:45 AM to return at 10:00 AM to discuss non-elected personnel with Ken Collins present.  Motion was seconded by Commissioner Lewark-Wood.

    ROLL CALL VOTE – Commissioner Lewark-Wood - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Tucker - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Fowler – Yes

 

Returned to session at 10:00 AM with no action taken and no decisions made.

PUBLIC WORKS:

 

Robert Bever, Public Works Coordinator, met with the Board.  There being no report this week, he reported verbally they will be using the concrete from the houses being demolished for fill where needed.

SHERIFF STAN VEACH:

 

Sheriff Stan Veach met with the Board and reported on the number of bookings in the jail.  He also submitted a bill for the motor previously approved and paid from the VIN money which is to be credited back to the VIN Fund from the County General Operating Fund.

 

Sheriff Veach discussed a problem with computers and advised the Board Ron Wade does not have to be notified when computer help is needed.  He stated the Computer Department should be notified and it does not have to go through Ron Wade.

OTHER COUNTY BUSINESS:

  1. Approved letter of support for transportation as requested by Four County Mental Health –
  2. Bid request by County Attorney to be clarified as to if it has been approved –
  3. Report of Spill Incident and Response by Montgomery County Environmental Health Director –
  4. Register of Deeds Monthly Report for December on fees collected -
