July 21, 2005

 The Board of County Commissioners, three members and the County Clerk present, met in special budget session at 9:00 AM.

CALL TO ORDER:  Commissioner Mattix.

INVOCATION:  Commissioner Mattix.  

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:  Commissioner Lewark-Wood.

Jim Miller, Coffeyville, Kansas appeared at the meeting to visit with the Board.  A motion was made to recess to Executive Session.

ACTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Mattix to recess to Executive Session at 9:42 AM to return at 10:15 AM to discuss non-elected personnel with Jim Miller present.  Motion was seconded by Commissioner Lewark-Wood.

    ROLL CALL VOTE – Commissioner Mattix - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Tucker - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Lewark-Wood – Yes

Returned to session at 10:15 AM with no action taken and no decisions made.

BUDGET SESSION:

Board of County Commissioners, Larry Wright (CPA) and the County Clerk met in session for the purpose of completing the 2006 Montgomery County Budget.  The final budget adjustments were made and the levy will be 43.061 mills compared to 42.308 mills for the previous year.  The increase of a one (1) mill levy was made for the Special Bridge Fund due to funds not budgeted last year. 

The Board was faced with the task of lowering the mill levy almost 10 mills from the initial requests by all departments and funds outside the general fund.

The following action was taken:

ACTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Lewark-Wood to approve the 43.061 mill 2006 county budget and authorize the publication by the County Clerk.  Motion was seconded by Commissioner Tucker.

    ROLL CALL VOTE – Commissioner Mattix - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Tucker - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Lewark-Wood – Yes
