The Board of County Commissioners, three members and the County Clerk present, met in regular session at 9:00 AM.

CALL TO ORDER:  Commissioner Mattix.

INVOCATION:  Commissioner Tucker.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:  Commissioner Lewark-Wood.

 

AGENDA APPROVAL:

 

ACTION A motion was made by Commissioner Lewark-Wood to approve the agenda as amended.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Tucker.

     ROLL CALL VOTE – Commissioner Mattix - Yes

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

 

ACTIONA motion was made by Commissioner Tucker approve the minutes of March 14, 2005 as presented by the County Clerk.  The motion was seconded by  Commissioner Lewark-Wood.

APPROVAL OF PAYMENT OF INVOICES:

 

ACTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Mattix to approve invoices in the amount of $15,649.28 as presented by the County Clerk’s office.   The motion was seconded by Commissioner Tucker.

    ROLL CALL VOTE – Commissioner Mattix - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Tucker - Yes

                                                   Commissioner Lewark-Wood – Yes

PUBLIC HEARING – CLOSE OUT FOR GRANT FOR SEWER DISTRICT NO. 2:

 

A public hearing was held for the close out for the grant for Sewer District No. 2.  Linda Weldon, SEKRPC, was present along with Barbara Curtis, Public Works Coordinator. 

 

There being no public input at the hearing, the grant close out was completed.

 

ACTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Lewark-Wood to authorize the Chairman to sign on behalf of Montgomery County, all documents necessary for the closing out of the Sewer District No. 2 and presented by Southeast Kansas Regional Planning Commission.  Motion was seconded by Commissioner Tucker.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE – VEHICLE REQUEST:

 

Sid Howell, Montgomery County Undersheriff, presented a request to the Board to purchase a 1998 Ford F150 4x4 pickup from Quality Motors in the amount of $9,600.00.  He stated “the patrol cars do not fit the sheriff, I mean he is too tall”.  Mr. Howell was asked if this would be the last request for vehicles for the year and he said it would be.  The following action was taken:

 

ACTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Mattix to approve the purchase of a 1998 Ford F150 4x4 Pickup from Quality Motors in the amount of $9,600.00 for use of the Montgomery County Sheriff and his department.  Motion was seconded by Commissioner Lewark-Wood.  Debit County General Capital Outlay Fund.

OTHER COUNTY BUSINESS:

 

1.      Cereal Malt Beverage License for Caney Golf Course –

License will be issued after inspection is made by Mr. Schwatken.

 

2.      Montgomery County Appraiser – Request to hire one (1) Data Collector –

ACTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Lewark-Wood to approve the hiring of one (1) Data Collector in the County Appraiser’s office to be in the Data Collector Salary Range 1 based on experience.  Motion was seconded by Commissioner Tucker.

3.      ADA Enforcement Officer – Letter from Paul Krtiz, County Counselor –

ACTION:  A motion was made by Commissioner Lewark-Wood to appoint Scott Barnhart, Environmental Health/Zoning Administrator as ADA Enforcement Officer and this be added to the job description of the Environmental Health/Zoning Administrator effective with the date of this resolution.  Motion was seconded by Commissioner Mattix.
