November 1, 2004
The Board of County Commissioners, three members and a representative for the County Clerk, Liz Schwatken, Human Resources Director, present met in regular session at 9:00 AM. The County Clerk was absent to conduct election seminars for the upcoming general election.

CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Hey.
INVOCATION: Commissioner Mattix.

ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Hey to approve the agenda as amended. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Mattix.

APPROVAL OF PAYMENT OF INVOICES:
ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Mattix to approve invoices in the amount of $237,582.11 as presented by the County Clerk’s office. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Taylor.

REGISTER OF DEEDS – COMPUTER ENHANCEMENT:
Marilyn Calhoun, Register of Deeds, and Ken Collins, Computer Department, presented a request to add software for the RVI for upgrading the system. The estimated cost would be approximately $1,500. The following action was taken:
ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Hey to approve the upgrade for software for RVI for the Register of Deeds office at an estimated cost of $1,500.00. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Mattix. Debit Register of Deeds Tech. Fund.

PUBLIC WORKS:
Barbara Curtis, Public Works Coordinator, was asked to check on a stop sign that is leaning in Sunset Village at the request of Mr. Robert Miller.
Commissioner Mattix advised he had been approached by Mr. Virgil Macaluso, Bruest, about purchasing the property at 19th & Sycamore the county had purchased at a tax sale and could not use due to being in the flood plain. The property adjoins the Bruest property and they would like to purchase the lots. It was discussed that the legal fees would be paid by Bruest in payment for the property. No action was taken at this time.
Barbara Curtis will be on vacation next week. Vasco Brown will be present for the meeting.

OTHER COUNTY BUSINESS:
1. Canvass of Votes will be held at 9:15 AM on Monday, November 8th, 2004.
2. Approved the hiring of one (1) employee in the County Treasurer’s office at a beginning wage of $8.00 per hour.
3. A letter was discussed from Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wehmeyer on a fence viewing with Mr. Truitt. A message was left with Mr. Kritz to contact Commissioner Hey regarding the viewing.
