April 19, 2004

 The Board of County Commissioners, three members and the County Clerk present, met in a special session at 3:31 PM.

CALL TO ORDER:  Commissioner Hey.

 ********

The purpose of the meeting was to meet with the Kansas Department of Commerce to accept an achievement award for Montgomery County.   April has been designated as Commerce Development Month with Montgomery County being recognized for their achievements.  Those present were for the presentation were:

 Kansas Department of Commerce:                    Matt Jordan

                                                                                Ken Morgan

                                                                                Jean Worta

                                                                                Beverly Wilhem

                                                                                Terry Marlin

 Kansas State Representative:                            Rep. Jim Miller, Coffeyville

 Montgomery County Action:                            Dennis Pruitt

 Mr. Matt Jordan presented the Chairman of the Board, Mr. French L. Hey, with a plaque to honor Montgomery County for their accomplishments for economic development.  Since the year 2000 Montgomery County has received over eight million dollars for 51 projects.  Montgomery County is one of the top five recognized for successful accomplishments and leadership in the state of Kansas.

 The Board of County Commissioners and Dennis Pruitt thanked the Department of Commerce for their assistance to Montgomery County in helping them achieve this success.
