BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MONTGOMERY COUNTY, KANSAS OFFICIAL MINUTES August 11, 2003 The Board of County Commissioners, two members and the Deputy County Clerk present, met in regular session at 9:00 AM. Commissioner Mattix was absent. ******** CALL TO ORDER: Commissioner Taylor. INVOCATION: Commissioner Taylor. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Hey. AGENDA APPROVAL: ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Taylor to approve the agenda as amended. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Hey. ******** EXECUTIVE SESSION: ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Hey to recess to Executive Session at 9:10 AM to return at 9:30 AM to discuss non-elected personnel with Human Resources Director Liz Schwatken present. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Taylor. ROLL CALL VOTE Commissioner Taylor - Yes Commissioner Hey - Yes Commissioner Mattix - Absent Returned to session at 9:28 AM with no action taken and no decisions made.

******** PUBLIC WORKS: Barbara Curtis, Public Works Coordinator, presented the weekly written report. The following items were discussed: Major Bridge Replacement Status; Spears Manufacturing Company Roadway (1225 Road) Project is complete; and Departmental Work Progress included Road and Bridge and Sewer District No. 2 bid tabulation. As a result of this report, the following action was taken: ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Taylor to accept the recommendation of the Public Works Coordinator and award the construction of Phase I & II Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation bid to Middlecreek Mining Corp., Peabody, Kansas in the amount of $222,057.25. Debit KWPCRF and CDBG Grant Funds. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Hey. ROLL CALL VOTE Commissioner Taylor - Yes Commissioner Hey - Yes Commissioner Mattix - Absent RES. NO. 03-105 ******* OTHER BUSINESS: 1. Dearing School Proposals A letter was presented to the Board written by the Chairman to all those who have made proposals on the Dearing School property inviting them to attend the August 25th meeting to give brief presentations about their specific plans for the property.
2. Community Corrections Advisory Board Appointee A memo from Kurtis Simmons, Community Corrections Director to the Board was read recommending Vickie Gilbert, Coffeyville, Kansas to serve on the Montgomery County Community Corrections Advisory Board. The following action was taken:
ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Hey to approve the appointment of Vickie Gilbert, Coffeyville, Kansas to the Montgomery County Community Corrections Advisory Board.
