ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Mattix to accept the recommendation of the Montgomery County Rural Fire Director and award the bid for ten (10) electric hose reels to Weis Fire and Safety Equipment, Salina, Kansas in the amount of $7,588.00 and debit Montgomery County Rural Fire District No. 1 fund. ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Taylor to accept the recommendation of the Montgomery County Rural Fire Director and award the bid for 10 100 Ft. NO. 03-82 ******** KOMTEK AGREEMENT: ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Hey to approve the agreement between Montgomery County and Komtek Systems Corporation for service between July 1, 2003 and July 31, 2004 (13 months) in the amount of $18,300.00. NO. 03-83 ******** AMATEUR RADIO CLUB USE OF COMPUTERS: ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Hey to authorize the installation of surplus computers from county offices in Emergency Preparedness Office for use of the Amateur Radio Club for emergency purposes. RES. NO. 03-84 ******** MONTGOMERY COUNTY ACTION 2004 BUDGET REQUEST AND MCAC UPDATE: Dennis Pruitt, MCAC Director, Rob Gill, President and Mike Seller, Board Member, met with the Board of County Commissioners to present an update on the goals and accomplishments of MCAC. John Schmid also appeared for MCAC. The request for the 2004 budget was also presented in the amount of $109,000, an increase of $9,000 over 2003. No action was taken at this time.
******** PUBLIC WORKS: Barbara Curtis, Acting Public Works Director, presented the weekly written report. The following items were discussed: Major Bridge Replacement Status; Spears Manufacturing Company Roadway (1225 Road); Departmental Work Progress for Road and Bridge, Noxious Weed and HHW. General Discussion Phone Cards and Sewer District No. 2 backup problem. As a result of this report, the following were discussed:
1. Permission was given to solicit quotes for Corrugated Metal Pipe. 2. Phone cards needed for the new phone system; approximately 13 cards plus 3 for Unified Court System at a cost of $6331.00. Ms. Curtis was instructed to purchase as needed. 3. Discussed backup water on Brookside Drive from the sewer. Investigating the possibility of a ground water problem or a possible water leak.
******** OTHER COUNTY BUSINESS: 1. Decision made to order Thank you notes to be used by the Board for personal notes on county business. Commissioner Mattix will place the order. 2. Commissioner Mattix discussed a problem brought to his attention by Manuel Martinez dba Martinez Salvage with city sewage when rain is heavy. The sewage comes out on Mr. Martinez personal property and flows onto the county right-of-way. The city is aware of the problem and Environmental Health is aware also. 3. Letter from Governor Sebelius requesting county participation in the statewide tree-planting event for the 150th Anniversary of Kansas becoming a state. Montgomery County will participate and must respond by July 15th. 4. Credit Card Agreement between Montgomery County and Commerce Bank was signed as prior approved and seven (7) credit cards will be requested and distributed.
ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Hey to authorize the Chairman to sign on behalf of Montgomery County the Credit Card Agreement between Montgomery County and Commerce Bank. ******** JUVENILE JUSTICE AUTHORITY GRANT CONDITIONS FORM: ACTION: A motion was made by Commissioner Mattix to authorize the Chairman to sign on behalf of Montgomery County the Conditions of Grant From Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority to the Montgomery County Board of County Commissioners.
